No more taking a swipe at leisure sites

Amongst all the technology and innovation at this year's Leisure Industry Week show, will be something of interest to all membership based facilities.

The Fingerprint Recognition system, developed by SportSoft, is a direct replacement for membership swipe cards, and looks set to become the de facto standard for health clubs and other leisure facilities.

Instead of swiping a membership card, members simply place their finger on the fingerprint scanner and their details immediately flash up on the screen.

There are obvious advantages to replacing membership cards with fingers - members can't forget their fingers, they cannot be lent to a friend, there is no printing, laminating or cutting and they do not cost anything.

Paul Duncalf, MD of SportSoft, says: "We will soon be issued with Biometric passports, and fingerprint-based access control is becoming more prevalent in our everyday lives. Once our members realise that the fingerprint image is not actually stored anywhere on the computer, they will be comfortable with the idea. It is a win-win situation, members do not have to carry cards, and the operators save thousands on membership cards."

SportSoft have been suppliers of computerised leisure management systems since 1990. Their complete range of software products will be displayed on Stand 3125 including online bookings, CRM, spa bookings, point of sale, access control, text messaging and email-merge.
